What is Lido Classics ??
It's grass roots Lido 14 sailing at it's best. We have been racing in Newport Harbor, CA.. once a month every month for 10 years. We gather at American Legion Yacht Club (ALYC) on a Sunday (See scheduale below) We get racers from all over Southern California...Many from BYC, ALYC, BCYC, Fleet 1, Fleet 6, Los Alomitos Yacht Club, Mission Bay Yacht Club...etc... Our races are informal..but very competative..We get a mixture of national champs, up and coming rock stars, couples tuning there skills and often Dad's and Sons and more often Dad's and Daughters.. We gather for a pre-race meeting at ALYC around 12:45..Many trailor in boats. We have launch facilities and a nice guest dock. Some also come by water.. Races start at 1pm..with a small course just off of Lido Island Yacht Club..
We run 4-6 races with a short break and end around 3:30 at ALYC
Afterwads there are always trohpys..Many come for the coveted ROY MUG...first place trophy (with Roy Wolsey on the front ) ALYC has a great patio that is rockin on Sundays with Live bands, burgers and the best drinks in town.. You may see the Lido Classic races being held at other clubs once in a while and we often do a Big Bear Lake Camp out/reggatta or Lake Skinner..So come on down for some fun exciting racing..Leave your protest flag at home and join us for classic windward-leeward racing the way it's supposed to be...FUN........
